Staycation Dog Boarding at Nexus K9

Train for the life you want together

Helping you and your dog thrive together

Life with your dog should be enjoyable—not filled with constant pulling, jumping, ignored commands, or anxiety about how they will behave around people, other dogs, and everyday distractions.

You may have watched training videos, tried different techniques, or corrected the same behaviors repeatedly without seeing lasting improvement. Without clear communication, consistent structure, and the right training plan, unwanted behaviors often become more established over time.

The best day to start training was yesterday. The next best day is today.

The best day to start training was yesterday. The next best day is today.

At Nexus K9, we help families throughout Savannah, Pooler, Rincon, Statesboro, Richmond Hill, and surrounding communities build better behavior, stronger communication, and a more enjoyable life with their dogs.

Training Customized Around Your Life

Every dog is different. Every family is different. The life you want to enjoy with your dog is uniquely yours.

That is why our Board and Train programs are never one-size-fits-all. Your program is fully customized around your dog’s personality, current behavior, previous experiences, training needs, home environment, and your goals for life together.

Whether you want calmer behavior at home, dependable obedience in public, greater confidence around distractions, or the freedom to include your dog in more activities, we will build the training plan around what matters most to you.

Our goal is not simply to teach your dog commands. We want to help you develop a dog who understands what is expected, confidently looks to you for direction, and can participate in more of your everyday life.

Results-Based Training

Our Board and Train programs are results-based. This means our commitment does not end simply because a certain number of days or weeks has passed.

We continue working with you to ensure you understand the training, feel confident communicating with your dog, and have the support needed to maintain long-term success.

Training should create meaningful improvements in your everyday life—not simply produce a dog who performs well for the trainer.

Lifetime Support

With our lifetime support, you will always have an experienced team to help you stay on track. Life changes—such as moving, starting a new job, welcoming a child, or adjusting to a new routine—can affect your dog’s behavior. When challenges arise, simply give us a call, and we will help guide you through them.

Learning Objectives

Our programs are designed to do a lot more than just teach your dog how to sit or come when called. We want a dog that you can fully enjoy both at home and on your family vacations. Whether you’re walking through a busy park, having guests over or going on a trip, you will have consistent expectations and peace of mind! What follows is a list of items which can be included in your customized program. Specific items from below will be strategically utilized in your program to offer a complete training program that is just what you need.

Intensive Obedience Training
Our expert trainers will guide your dog to master a range of commands, including:

  • Sit (with an implied stay)
  • Down (with an implied stay)
  • Come/Recall
  • Loose Leash Walking (demonstrating environmental neutrality)
  • Place (with an implied stay)
  • Leave It
Each command is rigorously proofed to ensure reliability both on-leash and off-leash.
  •

Manners and House Etiquette
We focus on cultivating a balanced temperament and respectful behavior, covering:

  • Courteous greetings for guests
  • Environmental neutrality in varied settings
  • Respect for household thresholds
  • Controlled responses to doorbells, knocks, and visitors
  • Confidence during vet visits and public outings
  •

Behavioral Training

These training objectives are more complex and require more time. This is going beyond the basics of obedience and dealing with how your dog sees and reacts to their environment.

  • Nervous of environment/people
  • Reactivity to environment/people
  • Reactivity toward dogs/animals
  • Aggression towards dogs/animals
  • Resource guarding
  • Neurological conditions
  • Child and dog safety

One Program. Two Distinct Parts.

Part One: Your Dog’s Board and Train

Your dog will stay at our welcoming 11-acre retreat, where they will enjoy enriching activities, an active schedule, and consistent structure throughout each day. We begin in a calm, low-pressure environment, giving your dog time to settle in, build trust, and develop dependable skills. As their confidence and reliability grow, we gradually introduce greater challenges and real-world distractions at parks, stores, shopping centers, malls, and even Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Our goal is for your dog to return home with the obedience, confidence, and practical experience needed to successfully take on everyday life with you.

Part Two : Teaching You

While your dog is training, we will meet with you for private, hands-on sessions. You will learn how to communicate clearly, reinforce commands, maintain structure, set healthy boundaries, and fairly hold your dog accountable.

Our goal is not to create a dog who only listens to the trainer. We prepare you to confidently lead your dog, maintain their progress, and enjoy lasting success once they return home.

Next Steps

1. Discovery Call
We begin with a 20-minute discovery call to discuss your basic needs and ensure our programs are the right fit for you and your dog.

2. In-Home Evaluation
Next, we schedule a 1-hour in-home evaluation. The purpose of this session is to gather all the necessary information we need to build your customized program for you. During this session, we will:

  • Meet your dog and assess their temperament, obedience levels, and behavioral concerns.
  • Meet your family (all decision-makers must be present) to review household schedules, activity levels, environmental variables and training goals.

This evaluation helps us understand your dog’s home environment and ensures the optimal setup for training success.

3. Customized Plan
We will conclude our evaluation by presenting your customized plan, answering any clarifying questions and scheduling a start date.

I love Nexus k9! I brought my two dog into training to help with resource guarding and fighting. During their training the staff made sure to send lots of videos and pictures and kept me very updated on what to expect. Now I have my girls back home and they are doing really well!!!! Before training I was so stressed and worried I would be having to rehome one of my girls, now they are doing so well I know I will be able to keep both of my girls and keep them happy, heathy and safe. Additionally, the training the staff gave me as a dog owner really gave me so much more comfortability and knowledge in what to do to keep my girls safe! This training was worth every penny! Thank you Nexus!!!!

Kristi is amazing! She not only helped us with our extremely skittish GSD, but saved my sanity in the process. We had gotten Ghost earlier this year at 8 months old. He had never been socialized around people and that resulted in pacing and excessive fear barking. Never at me, but EVERYONE else including my husband. This went on for months before we found Nexus K9. She helped us change what we were doing in order to change the way he thinks and responds to the unfamiliar. He's a much calmer dog now. I'm thankful for the tools and skills she gave us so we can keep training and building his confidence up. Thanks Kristi! Y'all are the best!!
